Peter Calcagno is a Professor of Economics at the College of Charleston and the founding director of the Center for Public Choice & Market Process. He is a Public Choice and Public Policy Project Fellow, voting member, and standing committee chair
with the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER), and he currently serves as Treasurer of the Public Choice Society.

He is also President of Classical Liberals in the Carolinas, a regional network of academics and professionals focused on issues of liberty and responsibility, and a past board member of the Association of Private Enterprise Education. His research focuses on applied microeconomics, particularly public choice economics
and political economy. He has authored dozens of journal articles and book chapters and is the editor of Unleashing Capitalism: A Prescription for Economic Prosperity in South Carolina.

Dr. Calcagno earned his B.S. in Economics and History from Hillsdale College and his Ph.D. in Economics from Auburn University.
